You know Caleb I agree with you 100%, and I think it's incredibly important to ensure accessibility, because, as you said, "passing" does not mean best.

To that end I've included a section adjacent to where gradients are applied in order to attempt to clarify that particular point with respect to APCA accessibility in terms of Lc's, and what designers could do instead if they're not sure whether or not that particular application of color will land well with their users.
